I’ve Given Up Sugar…join me?

Cake temptation!

I do what I do because I love helping people to live more healthily every day and to make a real difference to their lives. However I have a guilty secret…I love sugar. I find it hard to go out for a coffee without being tempted by the array of sweet treats staring up at me from the counter.

But for me, something had to change. I was noticing a difference in my energy levels - a sugar rush followed by a crash - as well as my overall feeling of well being. So I decided to ditch the sugar for good on 1st January 2020. I’ve tried giving up for short periods before - a couple of years ago I gave up for 3 months, but I’ve set myself a bigger target of giving up for a year this time around. I’m pretty sure I won’t want to go back after a whole year of seeing the benefits of life without sugar.

I’m two months in and I’ve already noticed a massive difference. I’ve used my body composition scales to monitor my progress - a great way of staying on track for any body transformation challenge:

  • My body fat has gone down

  • My muscle mass has gone up

  • I’ve not lost any weight - this is a good thing, as muscle weighs more than fat so I have simply lost fat and gained muscle

  • I’ve noticed my body shape change

  • I have less peaks and troughs to my energy levels through the day

  • I’ve been sleeping better
